By linking the number of deaths to the total population in the countries, it turns out that the countries most affected by the epidemic are in descending order: Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Sweden, France, the United States, Brazil.

For his part, WHO Director of Emergency Michael Ryan warned that "the epidemic on the American continent is at a very strong level, especially in Central and South America."

He added: "We have noticed a continuous and worrying pace, with many countries increasing by 20 to 25% during the past week" by the number of injuries, stressing that the epidemic has not reached its peak in many countries of the American continent.
